International Nuclear Regulatory Academy
In view of the current expansion of the nuclear industry the company is working on the establishment of an International Nuclear Regulatory Academy (inrAc) to develop and maintain competence in regulatory authorities and in the safety and licensing functions of operating and vendor organizations, and to facilitate the regulatory-operators interface in the licensing process, in line with the best international practice and safety standards.
This new initiative will complement ongoing national, regional and international projects and will provide for the establishment of a stable, regular and long term platform for building and maintaining the knowledge and skills of regulatory staff and the safety and licensing staff of operating and vendor organizations.
The first workshop “International Workshop on Developing and Maintaining Regulatory Capacity for Nuclear and Radiation Safety for an Expanding Nuclear Industry” organized by inrAc, NNR and the Wits University was held on 25 October 2010 in South Africa.
