The company worked on the finalisation of the proceedings of the Urban Working Group of the EMRAS (Environmental Modelling for Radiation Safety) project. The primary objective of the Group was to test and improve the prediction of dose rates and cumulative doses to humans for urban areas contaminated with dispersed radionuclides, including prediction of changes in radionuclide concentrations or dose rates as a function of location and time, identification of the most important pathways for human exposure, and prediction of the reduction in radionuclide concentrations, dose rates, or doses expected to result from various countermeasures or remediation efforts. Two test cases were developed, one on real contamination that occurred at Chernobyl (Ukraine) and a second one dealing with hypothetical dispersion of radioactive contamination in an urban area.
